In a special edition of my blog I thought what better way to share some Walt Disney World tips on May 4th than to do it in regards to Galaxy's Edge! Although admittedly I am not the biggest Star Wars fan in the world - I still found Galaxy's Edge to be fascinating. From the details that went into the theming, the rides themselves (yes, I'm talking about you Rise of the Resistance), and the food and drink - there's something for everyone in Galaxy's Edge
Located in Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World, Galaxy's Edge is a totally immersive experience that brings you into the worlds of the Star Wars movies. It includes two main attractions - Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run and Star Wars Rise of the Resistance. The latter being arguably the biggest attraction that Hollywood Studios (and Walt Disney World itself) has to offer. Smuggler's Run is included in the Lighting Lane through Genie +, while Rise of the Resistance is an Individual Lightning Lane through Genie + (meaning you will have to pay extra per person to get this lighting lane). In my opinion... the ILL for Rise of the Resistance is 100% worth it - but - others may disagree.
Outside of the attractions there are character appearances, ships based throughout the land, and restaurants and food experiences as well. I say "food experiences" from the sheer standpoint that blue milk is an experience in itself. Food stops include Ronto Roasters which includes the instagram famous Ronto wraps and the Oga's Cantina - a completely immersive experience that includes adult drinks themed exactly like the movies. Although I have not personally been to Oga's Cantina, I'm hoping to snag a reservation for when we go in June! They limit your time in this experience to 45 minutes to make sure they can get as many people as possible in throughout the day. Reservations are needed to get into Oga's Cantina - and they are nearly always booked, so plan early! (or contact your favorite travel agent to help you with all of those needs too).
Added this year to the Star Wars experiences at Walt Disney World is the Galactic Starcruiser. This Star Wars resort is again - COMPLETELY immersive as you are on the "ship" for the entire time that you are at the resort. Limited to 2 night cruises right now, those who stay at the Galactic Starcruiser are also entitled to their own entrance directly into Galaxy's Edge in Hollywood Studios.
Overall, if you're a Star Wars fan you won't want to miss the amazing experiences that Walt Disney World and Disneyland have to offer!
